Overview of the 30s

The 1930s were a time filled with fear and hardship. The country was in the midst of the Great Depression and was on the brink of World War 2 (1939-1945). Only the      rich had money, and the unemployment rate neared 25% by the time Franklin Roosevelt was inaugurated as             president. Money was on everyone’s mind during the         Great Depression of the 30s. The Great Depression is the reason banks run the way they do today, and is why we     have deposit insurance. The 1930s were defined by the     Great Depression.
